Torch Not firing during Test fire

Post by markabowdish »

Hello,

I am having an issue testing firing my plasma torch Hypertherm 45xp I am currently just trying to test fire, as I'm still waiting on parts/hardware to wrap up my panel build and table build.

I have previously run the bench test for the voltage, ( I switched back to CNC mill for a project)

I am using a magnetic breakaway with torch tip touchoff wiring via schematic s15107

Via the PLC menu the torch tip touchoff is working - when grounded turns green
and the breakaway turns red - when torch mount is broken/triggered

When I go to test fire, it seems as the button is dead, No relay switch no fire from the torch.

What could be some things to check for? Did I miss something or a setting in the Manual?

Does the orientation of pin 3 and 4 from the cpc cable to the relay for torch on matter?, it is not specified on S15107

Is this a ground issue? (since the table is not complete I have not finished grounding the axis's via the bulletin) but even if I take the torch ground and clamp it to the Hose bracket holding the voltage sensing wire the torch will not fire in air.

Since it was a new install for acorn plasma free do I have to rerun the bench test?

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I spoke with Joey at the end of the day Friday when I called in asking about CNC plasma Free, And told him he might see a post, and here it is.

Hello Mark

Just Loaded your report and (Torch On) in not assigned to any output in the Wizard. That would explain the torch not firing. :D
No Output Assigned.png
If you followed Schematic S15107 than assign (Torch ON) to Output 2 in The Wizard's Output menu.

Should be a quick fix

Joey,

Thanks!

Fires right up when the outputs are set correctly.

Much appreciated, now onto the rest of the setup.

Hi John here. I have a similar question.
I have a plasma wireless mpg from centroid.
I want to wire cross hair laser, do I connect it to one of the relays , then assign it to laser function in the software?
thank you.

Hello John, unfortunately your question is not a similar question and the forum asks that you start your own topic instead of hijacking an existing one. We'd be glad to answer your question, just please start your own topic under the plasma section. Here's a link to the forum rules. These help keep this site organized.
