Issues During upgrade to Plasma pro

Post by Glabs »

I'm having some issues upgrading from free to pro plasma. Below are my reports from before upgrade and after. I had to upgrade to the new version of cnc12 as well. I have the thc to add as well, but currently would like the machine to be useable like it was before the change. I can add the thc later. Can i use the same macros? any help would be great. I've used our machine for the past 3 years, just decided to upgrade to pro and add the thc.

Your first report is for Mill 4.50 and the second report is Plasma 5.08. You cannot use a Mill license on Plasma software. You need to buy a Plasma license. You also cannot use your 4.50 report on 5.08 software.

Lastly, there is no such thing as an "upgrade" with CNC12. It's a fresh install of NEW software each time. One version does not "upgrade" the last.

You would have to contact Centroid for a new license for "Plasma" and import that license to the Acorn when using Plasma 5.08.

By upgrade i meant fresh install.
We purchased the mill 4.5 before the plasma was available. and had our machine working just fine. I purchased the plasma pro license and upgraded it. Most of it works, but some of the settings are different or the macros arent working as i would expect.

A LOT has changed from your previous version of 4.50 to 5.08 and things not working would be expected from such an old version of CNC12. You'll have to be much more specific as to what isn't working as we cannot tell from your reports. List what isn't working please.

I can start the machine, jog, home etc. But I can't get the torch to touch off correctly. Maybe i need a new macro? I use a float switch, no breakaway. When i followed the instructions for setting up the input for float switch, The machine would go down activate my proximity switch but then stall and say breakaway detected. even though i dont have the breakaway on any of my inputs, and dont use a breakaway. Again, my end goal is to add the thc and have the machine working. My short term goal is to be able to use the machine like i always have, but with the plasma pro that is currently installed. I have not been able to test anything else past failing to touch off.

Hello Gabs,

What does your float switch look like? is it really just one switch?

When testing the float switch you are using the Torch Touch button on the VCP correct?

If the Float switch is ever triggered outside of a Touch off macro the float switch trip will be treated like a breakaway.

The Torch Touch button lights up if the Float switch is tripped. You should not see the torch touch button lit when the torch is not touching.

Do you see the Torch touch button light up when you manually trip the float switch?

Do you see the torch touch button light turn off when you release the float switch?

single proximity switch , always on unless touching off

I have tried that, and tried my old macro as well

No, I had the float switch set up on an input like the instructions showed, but removed it after it didnt work.

No.
I believe part of the problem could be the way the inputs were set up using the mill software. Obviously it wasn't designed for plasma, but we made it work. Just want to make sure I'm doing everything the way it should be done now that we are using the plasma license. I just need some guidance to get me back in the right direction. Thanks

Do you have the Torch float switch assigned to the correct input in the Wizard?

Switch between NO and NC in the touch off menu of the Wizard.

Here are my original settings when I used the mill license for the Plasma.
I set all of these back the way these were when switching to the latest cnc12 and plasma pro.
Can i move my home slave to a different input without messing something else up?
I did try the float switch on the correct input once, but reverted after it failed due to breakaway. I also had changed the NO/NC for the switch.

Assign the Float switch input to the Input that you currently have the Float switch wired too.

You can Assign an input in whatever input number your like as long as the input device is actually wired to that same input on the Acorn board.
