Hello I’m new to this and I’m trying to learn on my dads plasma cutting machine.

I was curious the workflow and software used.

My dad has windows and currently runs turbocad for design exports at DXF and imports into power station to chain a tool path.

My question is that I have a Mac and am looking to operate myself. I’m only doing 2d work right now and was planning on using Inkscape / turbocad for my design work. Exporting as dxf to CAMotics to generate took path. At this point I’m not sure what type of file I need to save to then run on the machine. Attached is a pic of the machine controller

Hello. Do you know which control your machine is running? Looks like the M400 console is running on a mill or router software version? I'm going to take a geuss that you not running an Acorn right? For Acorn Plasma the most common cam software is Sheetcam. There are Post processor's for sheet cam and acorn Plasma. Acorn Plasma has a conversationional feature called Plasma Intercon that's included with the software. In Intercon you can create parts and import SVG/DXF's.

I'm not sure how the machine your using is set up to run a plasma cutter. Can you post some Gcode files you have used on this machine? Some pictures of the machine would also be nice. Not sure of a post processor you need or need to create.
