book settings for 16g steel
it’s so fast my holes are crap
I have Bobs 3sensor torch mount
i changed hole feed rate to 20% still getting bad holes
the outside cut was wavy before i tightened down the adjustment screws on torch mount to where it wouldn’t shake.
I am getting to understand that the preloaded settings are not for my machine.
In closing every table is different.
Left pic is before

When cutting small holes (anything under 1.5" for me) you have to DISABLE the THC. You have it set for SMART SENSE.

I just cut 784 holes today in 1/4" aluminum without any issues. THC disabled and 62% of book speed with a Hypertherm Powermax 85. Cutting 1/4" aluminum with 65A at book settings and THC disabled. I even cut eight 3/8" square holes for carriage bolts to fit into.

Here's a video for you from my Google album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jX86q4LeuF5r736n7

These are drain covers for Tampa Bay Downs which is our horse racing track. Total time to cut each drain cover is 19 minutes. 18 minutes to cut 98 holes and 1 minute to profile the parts. Only 16 more to go, ugh! :D It's like watching paint dry.

Man, you gotta love this Centroid plasma controller. :D

Hey Brent,
The preloaded configuration setting are definitely not the best for a given machine. I know we talked about this earlier and I'm just mentioning it again Incase any other users run into these issues. Other users have already gone down this path and there will be many more to come. I would really like to see your machine and how the axis and motors are set up. I think the only setting that was changed in the configuration menu of the wizard with your machine is the turn per inch ratio, correct? And that was just plugged in from recommendations from clear path. Yes slower speeds will certainly help with small holes but better tuning in the configuration settings will make a world of difference. Loosing position is a sign that something is not happy with the configuration settings. Messing with the smoothing settings helped a lot but there is definitely some underlining issues that should be delt with.

Did you start a google album of your machine and your build? As Joey mentioned pictures are worth a thousand words. My Shop Sabre has Clearpath motors with gearboxes on the X and Y axis and they are both rack and pinion. Which Clearpath motors do you have?

his turns ratios are out of the ideal range at .3180 turns per inch on X and Y and .5 on Z! this machine needs gear reduction big time

Can you post a pic of the mounted torch holder, you need torch to be centered in holder.
