CNC plasma setup without THC

Post by IronHead Brew »

Just wanted to get some clarification on wiring my Acorn to the CUT60's control interface. I have both a floating head and a breakaway mount. Those two switches will wire to inputs 6 and 7. Next will be pins 9 and 10 from the Cut60 to input 5. And last will be output 8 from the Acorn to pins 1 and 2 on the Cut60. I'm unsure if I need to use pin 3 or not and if so, to where.

Also, why will the float input not let me choose between NO and NC? It's just greyed out.

Hey Rich, Pin number 3 from the Primeweld is not needed. The The Arc ok and torch on/off pins sound like there hooked up correctly. As for the Wizard there is a separate touch off menu further down in the wizard where the open/closed option is located along with other touch off related questions.

Looking good so far

How is the Arc OK signal used with the Acorn?

The Arc OK signal is needed when THC is not installed so as to show Acorn Plasma that the torch is still lit.

An Arc OK Signal is not needed when THC is installed since Acorn Plasma uses the THC Voltage reading as an ARC OK.

If The Arc OK signal is lost then most likely a Flame Out has occured and Acorn Plasma enacts Restart mode. Just reverse to the interuption point, then jog off the torch path to choose your lead in and resume the Job.
