Langmuir XR

Post by lilb93 »

Just got a new Langmuir XR table and there software firecontrol. Seems a lot of problems with the software it either works or it is buggy. So if it is buggy since I have a few Centroid CNC machines and the millport 4 axis we got almost 15 years ago centroid never went down once. here is some photos of inside there cabinet really simple and there board is really small. will add photos tommorrow. phone went dead as usual.

Nice quality pictures. Will be interesting to watch your progress retrofitting the crossfire. Happy to hear you successes with Centroid!

There using software from China. Jiangsu Qinheng Co. Do I trust them NOWAY. Not one wire in the box it tied, As in the photo they use a daughter board on top of there controller. for some it works fine and others have a EMI nightmare. You have to have there box on rubber standoffs so it dont ground to the plasma table. Would have been much easier to put the cabinet in a stand alone cabinet away from the plasma table. There monitor and nuc knockoff must also be isolated from the table. They were too cheap to put a Meanwell power supply in it. just a Chinese knockoff.

I will set it up with there software which they call fire control, and see how it goes. Wondering if anyone else on here has a Langmuir system. I do have a spare Acorn board one of the first they made. actually bought two. Was doing a Bridgeport CNC to acorn a few years back and had a stroke and two heart attacks. But getting back to moving ok again, but have to remember what I did with the install on the bridgeport with cannot think of there name from canada there AC drives. Centroid is a great company and love it here and made in the USA and only 80 miles from me.

theirs been quite a few people that convert their Langmuir system controller to another plasma controller . With really good results
most Langmuir system XR is there newer one . Rolls on tube has a z axis the price attracts every one .
the problem is most cheaper machines lack speed . Acceleration don't use some Cind of motor reduction. with hypertherm cutting thin steel requires speed high acceleration . To do book speeds . So what happens users lower amp settings reduce speed find that setting that gets job dun .

i scrap every wire in that unit wire all new wires to the acorn plasma system . use shield motor wires
