Greetings,
The Acorn Plasma Package came with two boards (THC_TX_200921 and THC_RX 210721) and a 24VDC Meanwell power supply.
The schematics show the TCH_RX 210721 board powered by the same power supply as the Acorn board and the THC_TX_200921 powered by the supplied Meanwell PS.
I had planned on powering the Acorn and the two boards with one 24VDC 3.8A power supply. I located the THC_TX board inside the plasma carriage near the torch and the THC_RX board in a seperate enclosure near the Acorn control cabinet. They are connected by a 25' fiber optic cable.
Is it critical that the THC_TX board have a power supply isolated from the Acorn board and THX_RX board.
Thanks
Rich

I'm not sure how critical, the powers that be will chime in on that, but yes they send the second power supply to wire it per the diagram with two isolated power supplies.

Re: Power Supplies for plasma transmit and receive boards.
Rich,
Please wire the plasma system as the schematic shows, its done that way for a reason.
TX must be isolated and can not share a 24 volt power supply with anything else.
also (even on a regular Acorn install) dedicate a 24 volt dc power supply to the Acorn (running RX board with Acorn supply is ok) and do not connect it to anything else especially contactors, solenoid devices.

Thanks Keith.
Had I read the manual before posting, I could have saved you the trouble and me the embarrassment.
Thanks

no worries, the plasma users manual is being updated at least once a week so visit back often to the link to make sure you have the latest copy.

Re: Power Supplies for plasma transmit and receive boards.
It common practice in plasma controller wiring . To use a separate supply on torch height control unit . To isolate as much as possible
for RFI and any stray voltage feedback . To protect the controller as much as possible . it not just acorn controller all the other thc recommend a separate supply . it best practice to do that i use a din rail supply in my controller they easier to mount
