I have #3 set up
Torch float switch with break away!

I have my Cnc wired to the schematic that is filename S15109.dwg
Torch breakaway is in (input 7) and the floating head goes to the TX board to (T in) although in the wizard it is set to (input 2)
Floating head is set at .44

All I have to do is fill the table with water and start testing!

I have set my home all with soft limits
I have calibrated movement 1” = 1”
I don’t know if we need to adjust the divider voltage or if there is even an adjustment for it?

Do you have a test file to see if I can get a good cut?

What is the difference between a Torch TouchOff and a Floating Head Mechanical Switch?

I have a Floating head Mechanical switch and a breakaway switch but am unsure what the schematic means by a Torch TouchOff because that goes to a relay.
hello. please describe the Torch Touch off setup you wish to use. There are three ways to setup.. all use breakaway as safety to prevent crashes.

1.) Torch Tip with Float switch and Breakaway

2.) Torch Tip only with Breakaway

3.) Float Switch only with Breakaway

TorchTouch Off (input nine) can be used for Torch Tip (ohmic) or Float Head switch. if you decide to use them both we wire the float head into a separate input on Acorn so CNC12 knows which one triggered first. the Plasma schematics have recently been updated so be sure to download the latest.

Please lets arrange a time for a TeamViewer session so we can walk you thru the THC calibration process. and i want you to install the latest version of software. please make screen shots of the Acorn Wizard setup pages in preparation for installing the latest software.

i deleted your post in the acorn forum about torch touch off. i don't want to go public quite yet, lets get thru the private beta test phase first then we will go to a public beta.:-)

I saw you asked about torch touch . it basicly ohmic . it a connection from the torch nozzle shild to the controller input . they used a relay because if the nozzle shorts to the shild it put high voltage to the controller blow it up . Now ohmic is a hypertherm term so they own the term . and another controller builder needs to call it something else for copy right reasons. you need a torch that has a shild clip to use ohmic or torch touch
it mainly used on thin steel so ther no flex doing IHS probe . were float head flex the steel and settings be off during IHS process . since pierce height and cut height go off this . then THC takes over after . keep in mind plasma is positive ground once the torch fires . so in your build your table parts should be grounded together and to a ground rod . hypertherm has good grounding info on there website . i use a 10 ga wire from the z to x to y to the frame so they all grounded together this helps with RFI and grounds go use your slides for contact

Hi Keith, I'm just following along right now so thanks for this link and the updated drawing. My Shop Sabre has the ohmic "touch off" torch tip and the torch breakaway sensors. Looks like I'll follow S15107 for my machine. I don't know what a float switch is and I guess I don't need to. This is helpful to see what I'm needing to do. I'll check my CNC interface cable tomorrow on my Hypertherm 85 and see if all the connections I need for the Acorn in the schematic are there on the current WinCNC setup, which I'm sure they are.

great! yep, if you are using just torch tip touch off and breakaway S15107 is the one to use.

I’m trying to get a good cut, for some reason my machine has a delay when firing and couldn’t find out why. I read other forums and it mentioned to lengthen the pierce delay a little bit. That works but for some reason I get a override on feed rate which speeds it up to 48ipm instead of what the profile is set to. If I do a manual cut at .06” and 10 ipm I get a great cut.
My question, is there something I’m missing I’ll try and read the manual more.
Picture below shows one good cut which is the manual cut and all others where too fast ipm feedrate!

hello. please always post a fresh report.zip so we can see your settings.

and i should have a fresh beta build by the end of the day so lets update your machine to the latest.

I apologize I thought I uploaded the file.
I have been trying all kinds of things (Grounding with a grounding rod 3ft in the ground, checking settings etc) and can't seem to get a good cut. maybe today we could upload the new update?
