If you search on the forum you will find many discussions and opinion on switch types
A quality sealed mechanical switch is pretty expensive. Don't bother with any cheap mechanical switches.
Prox Switches have come a long way and are better suited for Plasma tables.
Prox switches are sealed from water and debris and have no moving parts.

And another question,
On my torchmate z axis the limit/home switch is run with a common wire to the breakaway switch. Three wires total. While I dont think this is a big deal, one goes to the acorn board and the other goes to TX board.
In addition to that I have proximity switches for x & y but z has a mechanical switch built in that I didnt realize. I intend to run all of them in series and am hoping it will work, has anyone tried this. In my mind this should work but maybe Im missing something?
Also does the torch tip touch off get wired the same for a prime weld as a hypertherm. A single wire to the t-in on the tx board from the tip like in s15138.r1

I'm not sure if proximity and mechanical switches can be run in series together. I don't think it will hurt anything to try.
The Torch touch will not work with the Primweld as the GND pin on the TX board will not have continuity to the ground clamp.
A separate Ohmic device will need to be used.

Im confused,
How does it have continuity with the ground clamp for the hypertherm as shown here. There is the same wiring configuration between the hypertherm and the tx/acorn as the prime weld isnt there. Am I missing something.

What I should of said was this is un tested. The Primweld Divided voltage lines have different properties and do not work the same as the Hypertherm.
PIN 6 on the Hypertherm is the positive of the divided voltage and has continuity with the material clamp. Primweld does not
The Tin wire on the torch tip can travel to the TX board when touching the material by traveling thru the material clamp and out to the GND on the TX board via pin 6 of the Hypertherm communication cable. So even if the Table is isolated from the cabinet ground the Tin can still reach the TX gnd terminal through the Hypertherm.
This would not work on the Primweld... but does that matter?
The Circuit for the Torch touch Needs a path connecting one of the 2 GND terminals on the TX to the Tin terminal on the TX
Now that I'm thinking about this with the primweld , I'm assuming the Tin wire will have a path to the TX gnd terminal thru the material >table>cabinet then to the TX board GND.
I think Torch touch will work but I would isolate the torch touch wire when the torch is fired.
This is done by following the first gen green THC board scheimatic for the torch touch.

I got side tracked for a little while building a pc and keyboard station, but I got that done. I mounted my prox sensors and moved on to taking my mostly completed control panel out to the table and starting to test everything. Leaving everything unhooked but the estop and the motors, I have movement on all axis, and paired the 4th axis to my y axis. E stop works as its supposed to, and no magic smoke! So far so good. While setting up my motors to work with the software,
I ran across an issue that I find very strange,
I have direct drive lead screws with 8 threads per inch, 8 starts of threads, so one full rev of the lead screw moves the gantry one inch. However when I put 1 rev per 1 inch it is off. I wound up with 3.195 turns per inch on the y axis, 3.25 on the x axis, and they are the same screw. Im pretty sure I have something set wrong but im not sure what it would be. I have the steps set to 4000. and started with the dm 5060E for a stepperonline DM860T driver.
Not sure what other info I need to post here.
I did get the travel pretty close by adjusting the revs per inch but its just bugging me, because I know something isnt correct. Any ideas.
