G'day
Just setting up a Plasma retrofit onto an existing machine.
Building the control cabinet, and just starting to run through the bench test. I'm getting an error "9105 THC Encoder Error!"
Nothing other than TX RX Acorn connected as per S15143 Schematic. Using Bench variable Power supply..
Anyone have any thoughts as to where the error is?
Thanks Heaps

Re: THC Encoder Error - Bench testing
THE THC Encoder error can be 3 things.
1. The Fiber cable is kinked or has a blocked end.
2. The DB9 Encoder Cable is bad
3. The TX or the RX is Not powered.
Most times it's the Fiber cable if the TX and RX are powered.
Check that there are no kinks in the Fiber Cable and either end is a Flush clean end on either side of the fiber line.
Sometimes the Fiber optic cable is not pressed all the way in to the connector on either side also.

Re: THC Encoder Error - Bench testing
So went through the process of elimination to find the fault first thing this morning.
Can't see any blockage of the Fiber connectors on the boards.
Tested voltages at the TX & RX boards, they're correct
Changed the DB9 cable with a new DB9 from a previous Acorn install
Don't know what else could be the issue

Problem Solved ...
Bad ferrule crimp on the +24v terminal ... intermittent
Unbelievable !!!
Thank for your help

Your welcome
Good to hear it was a simple fix.
