I am using a Hypertherm Powermax 45 with a Hypertherm Duramax Lock Machine Torch Assembly 180 deg.
When I assemble the torch T45m shielded consumables as shown in the manual it looks as shown in the attached image. The retaining cap is tight against the O ring but there is a large gap between the retaining cap and the torch plus the nozzle, swirl ring and electrode seem loose in the assembly. Is this correct?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Slightly off topic but need help with torch assembly
Can that torch can use the ohmic sensor? Did the torch itself come with a manual or are you referring to the 45XP manual? All the pics I see on the internet don't show it with ohmic and instead it has a longer plain retaining cap. My ohmic retaining cap on my Powermax 85 with a Duramax torch is much longer and has a part number 220953. It shows the same part number for the 65 and 45. You might have the wrong retaining cap. Oh, to answer your question, no, that is not correct.

I've attached a image from the manual and it will accept an ohmic sensor. The part# on the ohmic sensor is the same as that shown in the drawing.

Unless I'm missing something you stated you have a Duramax Lock Machine Torch and the diagram you posted is for a T45M torch. When I google them both they do not look the same.

Re: Slightly off topic but need help with torch assembly
The cutter I have is a Hypertherm Powermax 45 but I purchased a Hypertherm Duramax Lock Machine Torch Assembly 180 deg - 25' #088167 that I thought was for that unit. As I do more research the torch might be for a 45XP.
If that's the case I don't know if it will work on a 45 if I get 45P consumables or do I need a new torch.

Your best bet here is to call Hypertherm direct and talk with their tech support, they are very knowledgeable and super helpful.
