Software Upgrade

Post by Birleycnc »

Hi,
I have an old CNC Mill running Centroid CNC10 V2.68

I have tried the free version of the offline software on my PC and that is very good. My previous issues with DXF on the offline software now sorted. But the CNC10 V2.68 software does not have the DXF import functionality.

I have a question about updates.

I'm happy to go for the full version of the offline software but concerned that I have to update my CNC controller to CNC11. Is this so?

If so is this a big task. Just a bit hesitant on updating the CNC controller.

Regards
Jeff

If you want to copy conversational programs (and not just posted G code programs) from the offline system to your control, then you will need to update or upgrade the control.

Technically, if you updated the software on the control to v2.70 or v2.72 (which can be done without upgrading the control hardware); and you installed offline CNC12 v4.12, then you could move conversational program files from the offline system to the control.

But, if you want the very latest CNC12 offline (currently v5.08), then you will need to upgrade the control hardware. The best pathway for that is likely the Allin1DC; but it depends on what hardware you currently have.
