Hi Folks,
I am considering retrofitting a Hurco Hawk 5M milling machine. It has DC servos motors with the specs listed below. Will the Allin1DC board suffice or do I need to purchase external drivers? I am concerned about the voltage and current specs of the motors exceeding the Allin1 limits.

MAX SPEED 4500
MAX VOLTAGE 180
VOLTAGE CONT. 32.0
CURRENT CONT. 16.4

the allin1dc will run these 40 in-lb DC servos.
you'll find the bus voltage to the current drive is probably much less than 180, these tags on the motors are MAX ratings and most oems run them no where near those ratings.

That's great to know... Two follow up questions.
- Should I be concerned about the max current consumption being so much greater than the capacity of the Allin1dc?
- Just out of curiosity, how much of a performance drop or performance increase can I expect by changing to the Allun1DC ?

No. Peak Current is extremely high on DC brush motors. It is normally the demagnetization current, so you don't want to go near that.
Current output of your Hurco drives needs to be known to answer this with any accuracy.
Normally, I would set current output on a drive to 2 times constant stall current for DC brush motors. ALLIN1DC current output is essentially the same as this motor's constant stall current. If the original drives output 2x constant stall, peak torque will be half of what it was originally. This may be acceptable if you don't plan to push the machine for maximum throughput.

Fantastic! This is exactly what I wanted to know. I'll go with the Allin1dc. I can live with slightly lower thrust forces.
