Opticdirect & Oak Board setup and tuning

Post by Tek208 »

I am having trouble with Opticdirect and Oak board communication fault. Need help trouble shooting fault.

This router has 4 Yaskawa drives (2 paired for y axis) and 1 DMM drive (for C axis, tangential knife)
I have disconnected all but Z axis which the Opticdirect board is on.

I have no jumpers installed and have check continuity on Opticdirect to oak cable and made sure it was completely seated in oak board and first connector near led on Opticdirect board.

I set Pn300 = 1 and Pn308 = 7, Axis 1 label set to Z
The led on Oak board shows steady 1 and the Opticdirect board.1 and flashing.
I am getting a z communication fault.
Yaskawa drive that Opticdirect is on shows "bb" in window

If you don't have any jumpers installed, that's the issue.

The solid "1" on the OAK board indicates that the OAK board is assigned as axes 1 through 4.
The flashing ".1" on the OpticDirect indicates a communication error.
Be sure that the drive communication cable from the OAK is connected to the the correct connector and that J5 is jumpered.

I installed jumper, Opticdirect is solid "1" now as is oak board solid "1". No faults tell I hit cycle start then get z axis fault. I still just have Z axis hooked up so 300 = 1, 308 =7, axis 1 label Z.
Does Yaskawa need special parameters for Opticdirect? The optic direct manual only shows sigma 5 parameters not sigma 7.

Attached are 2 reports 1 before hitting cycle start and one after. Don’t know if that changes anything.

Attached is current Yaskawa Drive parameter

I also have question on my Y axis tuning / pairing. while tuning Y axis in sigma 7 I disconnect servo motor cable from paired drive I am not tuning and both drives is still coupled to rack. Why am I getting a "moment of inertia" of 7% on one drive and 368% on other?
Attached are excel files with sigma7 parameters for all drives.

If the OpticDirect is communicating with the OAK, then when they power up (together), the OpticDirect should show a solid "1" and the OAK should now show a "2" indicating that it is now controlling drive 2 through 5.
