Atrump E216/Maximill Digitizing Upgrade

Post by StevenGMLLC »

We have an Atrump E216/Maximill, S/N: 220, with a Centroid M400 control, S/N: 101706, and an MPU11 controller.

We just decided to upgrade to CNC12 so that we can begin using digitizing in our shop. Made multiple backups, restore points, even went so far as to create a whole new installation of windows 10 on a new SSD.

List of steps:

Installed the new SSD
Fully updated Windows
Went through the entirety of TB309 and configured and doubled-checked Windows configuration
Watched and followed the Acorn Bench Test video
Used the Centroid CNC PC Tuner app and made Windows Restore Point
Installed Notepad++
New installation of CNC12
Installed PLC -none- configuration without overwriting
Backup report restored
Command prompt ping tested successfully
Homed machine successfully
Got to page 6 of https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... ctions.pdf
Tried to run com_stress_test.cnc, failed to run, did not finish
Received 509 Option not Available error, see attached photo
Made report.zip, see attached

We have gone through TB270(rev8) and none of these seem to be solving the issue. We are using the Atrump's default ethernet hardware, firewall is completely turned off, ping test shows good for 10.168.41.1 and .2, tried reinstalling CNC12 and PLC configuration, received the same error.

It's the end of the day, and I thought we'd try this forum before bothering centroid for tech support tomorrow. If this post continues, we will make an online photo album for it.

To use current software (anything newer than CNC12 v4.14) you need a new software license.

"Legacy Pro Upgrade", $299 last I heard.

It looks like you bought the license upgrade a few days ago, but the report says you're still using the free version. Install the license and try again.

Thanks all. I've got the machine up and running, license installed just fine, and after reinstalling the mpu11 plc configuration, got the umbrella ATC working as well. The com_stress_test.cnc program passed, no problem, and the F7->F8 Options screen shows gpio4d in both MPU PLC and MPU PLC type, so pretty sure that's the correct PLC. The ATC works correctly after an ATC reset, and the machine homes and jogs correctly with the MPG. Everything seems to be in working order, so does anyone know why we still have a "MACHINE SETUP NOT COMPLETED. MACHINE IS NOT READY TO RUN. CONTACT YOUR DEALER." (see screenshots) on our CNC12 homescreen?

I went through the entire CNC12 5.xx setup document, and I don't see any reference to a screen like that.

See section 15.5 in the mill user's manual. That message will be displayed until System Test has run successfully.
Cheers,

Thank you everyone for all your help so far!

We ran the system test and got everything almost up and running.

I ran into a problem while trying to use the TT-1 tool finder: we're getting an error that says "TT PLC input not set" (see pic), and the TT-1 worked just fine during the system test, all the tools were touching off correctly. I read chapter 9.4 and chapter 15.3.36 about setting parameter 44, which is currently set to default 0, but as far as I can tell, in the old cnc11 report (attached), parameter 44 was originally set to default 0, so I'm not sure where the conflict is coming up. Any more help would be appreciated.

In the attachments:

report_0008DC111213-1230141112_2023-10-10_11-24-54.zip is a FRESH NEW report from today, post install, post system test

After lunch, I remembered to pull up the Alt-i screen and checked the actual inputs. MEM15 : MechanicalProbeEcho_M shows NO and closes when I touch an allen wrench from the table to TT-1 (see pics). I don't know if this helps anyone diagnosing the problem.

I cannot find any change in the input level, so I still don't know if it is a Parameter 44 issue.

In screenshots, cursor is placed on MEM15 to show difference between states.

If the TTO an Probe are on the same input, I would set P44 to the same value as P11

Thanks very much, that seemed to solve the problem. And I figured out to change Parameter 43 to 2 to continue using the TT-1 for Z-reference.
