Thinking I need to replace the VFD.

Not sure which if these would be best. One is...
High Speed Models (0-1500 Hz) With EMC Filter

The other is...
Standard Models (0-599 Hz) With EMC Filter


Since I currently have a breaking resistor does that mean I need one of those too?

Baldor's Super-E line of motors has a maximum frequency range of 75-120Hz depending on the motor so no need for the high-speed model. The manual for the VFD will list the braking resistor specifications. If your current resistor meets those specs, you could re-use it.

However, why do you think you need to replace your VFD? Can you run the motor from the VFD's control panel bypassing the Acorn? If so, you probably have a wiring error. If you were to rip out all of your VFD wiring during the replacement you might possibly fix the problem with a new VFD. If you just disconnect the old VFD and reconnect a new one, the you will probably still have the same problem.

Best to get your wiring problems sorted before replacing parts.

My wiring problem turned out to be a blown fuse on OUT1.
Contactor is working now.
Only cost $127.20 to figure that out 😀

Motor end of the servo motors needed swapped. All three axis are moving now.

On to the spindle. Still think it might be the vfd.


Bit of history...

this is a 3phase vfd. I only has it hooked up on si gle phase before removing the Anilam controls. Worked fine. Since I discovered it should be on 3 phase (which makes no sense to me) I connected it to my rotor phase converter. When trying out the spindle I noticed small amount of smoke...like it was getting too hot, emitting from tbe VFD somewhere. Shut it down. Reconnected it on single phase. Which is where we are right now. May try it again on 3 phase now that everything else is working. Concerns are as follows.

Measuring across the legs I got 240 volts. All three iterations.

When checking from elach leg to ground I get 120v/120v/260v....that theid leg being the generated leg. Has me somewhat concerned it is the issue. I do run 4 other machines on the rotary with no issues...one at a time of course.
Thoughts?

The generated leg should be approximately 208VAC to ground.

Did you measure it with any load?

No load....and it may actually be more like 243...Will go out and check it in a bit.

No Load the ghost leg measures 234vac to ground.

Souble checked all the wiring to the vfd. No breaks. Everything is landed where it should be. Tried 3ph and single phase to vfd. no spindle operation. I am goi g to buy a new VFD. Still looking for recommendations.
