I have been happy with the Hitachi VFD's on multiple machines. Get one that takes single phase input.

There are other brands that will work fine. The Hitachi units have been in short supply in the last few years.

Ordered a VFD and had it delivered overnight. Is it normal for these things to have been opened for testing purposes by the seller? Was not disclosed that it was an opened box or returned item. Curious if I should return it or just use it. I need to get this mill running.

Update....they assured me it was a package return that was checked and verified as only opened not used/installed. Warranty is still good.

Here goes getting it installed. This one is smaller in size than the one I am replacing.

Real close...but not finding the answers I need. I bought the Delta MS300 VFD because I saw it was recommended by Centroid. Have had no success finding the correct wiring for the following....

Inverter/Common
Inverter/Reset
Inverter/Fault NO

I found the following.....

Inverter/0-10vdc in (AVI)
Inverter/0-10vdc common (ACM)
Inverter/Spin Forward (MI1)
Inverter/Spin Reverse (MI2)

I have made no changes in any of the default settings of the VFD Parameters.

I may have found the answer.

Tech Bulletin 182 seems to have what I need. Will report baxk once I set it up. Called it quits for today.

Are you sure the VFD is in remote control mode? How are you trying to control the spindle in CNC12, with the manual spindle control, through MDI, or via program?
Cheers,

Tom

Not completely sure the VFD is in remote control. Will check that...once I figure out how to. The info in tb182 does not seem to be 100% aligned with the vfd. I was attempting to spin the spindle manually via the jog panel.

Performing the final test and getting error..

511 Missing parameter, line 1020

Edit: Travel Limits set incorrectly

Home position too close to encoder index pulse.

BTW...still no spindle.

Went back and double checked the limits...all work correctly. Goes through the test cycle with no error. Until the program gets to line 1020 and says there is a missing parameter. When I look at the code do not see any issues with that line. When looking at the output for the test results it is still throwing a few errors. Y AXIS minus is too close to encoder index pilse. Y AXIS plus same but additional error of travel limits set incorrectly. Will attach files.
