Making progress but have run into a question. Working on getting the E-stop buttons wired up.

The front panel on the Acer, one used for Spindle speed and direction. I assume that it can go away, and the wiring can be removed.

There is an E-Stop located up there. Should I leave it or remove and put one near the operator display? EDIT: I found another post discussing similar setup. Sounds like I can keep that E-stop. (There is a separate on/off switch for the cabinet with the VFD. My guess is it is the reason there is a second Contactor...see below)

Looking at this also began a rabbit hole research into the VFD and getting it wired up.

This mill uses a Toshiba VFS7-2037P Input source is listed as 3PH -200~230V-50/60Hz.

I have been running the mill using just 220V 1PH. Not sure how or why that was working....EDIT: I will be connecting it with 3PH now that I know it is needed by the VFD, unless someone tell me not to.

Anyone familiar with this particular model and converting it to Allin1DC?

Looking at the documentation/print for Allin1DC I do not see a second Contactor, like this mill had. Can that also be omitted?

Transformers do not output DC.

The text in the description is for the power supply as a whole: you put ca. 120VAC into the transformer, and you get ca. 120VDC out of the connected rectifier (CAPBRDLO and capacitor).

There is also a typo in that description, "motors with voltage ratings higher than 117VAC". DC brushed servo motors are rated for a maximum VDC, not VAC.

Assuming you are planning to power three servo motors, you would ideally want a transformer capable of supplying at least 15A at ca. 80VAC; but 10A would probably be sufficient. 4A would be woefully inadequate for anything more than bench testing.

Actually, the photos shows the capboard being screwed to the two terminals on top of the capacitor. The transformer in the background is confusing, but the transformer leads are just coiled in front of the transformer.

Thanks Tom. I think my confusion was not seeing this as a power supply system, instead I was seeing two separate/independent devices.

ok I am to the point of getting the spindle working. Fairly certain, by looking at the included manual page from the Toshiba VFD, that I can go from the VFD to the Allin1DC by passing the reversing contactors that were present in the Anilam system. I'd like to hear different if you think I should do differently.
