I did all the windows things to shut off updates when we switched to win 10. Worked fine for a long time.
This past year windows is again doing updates and it is annoying as all get out.
I checked all the usual places and can't see why it is being allowed to update.
Has MS gotten sneaky and forcing updates or is there something I can look for?
Thanks
Windows update

Re: Windows update
I noticed that with one of the update packs for Windows 10 Update changed and won't allow you to shut off updates completely - IIRC 45 days is the max you can set it to automatically check and install updates. I set my update settings to max intervals and install window during graveyard when I know I won't be running the CNC.
I set my filter clean message for two weeks, when I get the message I clean my filters and run windows update, make the required updates, then restart the computer until all updates are complete. After any updates you need to recheck the update settings and adjust them if MS created any defaults which override your settings.
This way I am in control of when the updates run and it won't impact my workflow.

Re: Windows update
The only sure-fire way to keep Windows from updating is to not connect to the Internet.
