YCM-30 Allin1DC retrofit quetions

OK i have a YCM-30(two actually) one with a older Dana Summit Bandit 1 controller and old baldor servos. I want to rip all of it off and it LOOKS like the All in 1 swap out is the way to go. I also have a prototrak on the other machine i would swap out too if this goes well and a Kondia FV1 with Dynapath i was hoping i can Acorn too eventually.

I have a static phase converter now 220v so i will need a VFD or several. Does anybody have a recommendation for one please?
I was going to use the centroid touch screen loaded controller vs buy my own. I know this a cost extra but overall is this a decent option?
I am going to get the 3 supplied 29lb servos i dont have time to sort alternatives but i assume these will do nicely?
The package comes with conversational and m and g code capable what does the upgraded software get me vs the free?
Will i need limit switches or does the servos and settings account for that?

Other then what they send me and the VFD and enclosure( i could use a line on these too) is there anything else i might need for this build ?

Alot of this stuff is really cool but also intimidating for me way above my understanding and time but hopefully i can pull it off and save a few good machines.

Thanks for any help i would like post some pics too as i go

ditch the phase converter and buy a vfd that accepts single phase.

centroid's 29 in-lb motors are perfect for these machines. alternatively if you are buying new axis motors you could go with Acorn and new AC servos.

get the pro license file, free is just used for testing.

buy the KP-3 probe and the mpg, and install swissi's Probe App and you will have a very useful machine.

Why ac servos vs DC?

What servos to get if i dont get the centroids?

Thanks for helping i need it

It looks like the pictured YCM-30 has wheels for manual movements. If you want to be able to use the handwheels, go for a closed loop system such as the ALLIN1DC with appropriate DC servos like our 29 in-lb models. If that is not important for you, then you could use the ACORN and step/direction AC servos as recommended in your previous thread.

I would recommend getting limit switches. Feel free to take a look at our schematics for various configurations. You can find them here: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... browse.php

Acorn is an open-loop controller so you cannot manually move the machine with handles. With the Acorn6, you have the possibility of having encoder handwheels to approximate manual movement.

The Allin1DC and the Oak both allow full closed-loop operation and actually have a button to turn off the motors so you can use the machine just like a manual one. Great for quickly squaring up stock or simple milling operations.

OK sort of getting somewhere in my head now LOL thanks!

open no hands closed hands.

I am assuming i can still jog the acorn so still can square up stuff and i want to use it for set up and square anyway so might be a good place to go.

I will look for a VFD and look at those AC servos later for costs.

OK looks like the AC motor deal is going to take time to research and more components then the dc allinone so maybe just go that route i just have time to sit in front of a computer looking for models and part numbers LOL

suggestion a locked thread with part numbers and prices of common parts used and places to get them so newbs dont have to spend hours reading threads to extrapolate a few simple answers? I really want to call on monday and order what i need to get going and not pay $12k for a prebuilt kit but i now know why machmotion is so popular it is convenient but at a huge cost

sorry for the rant just a bit frustrated this was not easier or i was smarter but thanks for trying to help

Centroid does offer pre-wired turn-key systems: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... y_cnc.html
