LS Electronics L7C Servos from Automation direct

Post by AcornJosh »

I see Centroid has tested the SureServo2 Drives.

I am purchasing SureServo2 drives for some CNC upgrades I am doing. I am also looking at the LS electric drives also offered by Automation direct. These offer better waterproofing which I need for some of my applications. They are also cheaper and In Stock.

Has Centroid tested the LS electric Servos and drives?

The LS electric drives are advertised 1khz bandwidth vs 3.1khz for the SureServo2. I am not sure what exactly that means.

https://cdn.automationdirect.com/static ... manual.pdf

Page 42 says these will accept 200 Kpps (200khz) via open collector.

The SureServo2 is the same.

(200000 Pulses/1 sec) (1 Revolution/8192 pulses) (1 inch/2 Revs) (60Sec/1Min) = ~700 IPM

Did I calculate this correctly or do I need to divide by 4 due to quadrature positioning.

What Centroid product will you use them with?
Open collector would only be for ACORN.
Quadrature would only be for OAK or OpticDirect.

Bandwidth is the responsiveness of the drive. I'm not sure of the details on how it is measured. Any brushless servo should respond faster than you need it to. For typical cutting machines we deal with, the mechanical parts can't keep up with the motor acceleration. You set the accel time in CNC12 well below the capabilities of the motor and drive. Centroid has used LS Mecapion motors, but not LS drives.

Is this the same LS company?
https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/sh ... ms#start=0

Ill be using it with OAK. Are the OAK drive connections line driver then? If that is the case, the drives are capable of 1Mpps and my concerns are not an issue.

Thanks for the response.

LS is a huge conglomerate... so yes, it is the same company, but a different division than we dealt with before.
Oak has quadrature line driver output.
