Quick dumb question on a linear scale.

Post by BrentLidgard »

I did a search for using a scale ase a 4 th axis dro on the quill of my mill. My scale only has 5 wires plus a shield. Scott said in a post tht it has to be a quadruature signal. Will my scale provide this and if so do I just use A+ A- B+ B- and the 5v wire? The Scale is an anilam RBM-5T.

I did some googling and did not see if they are or not, but most were from what I know (which is not much) I can tell you the Magnetic scales are cheap, very reliable, rugged, and I plan on putting that onto Z and feeding into the open input (if I ever get my 3K encoder stuff sorted out). My 3cents. CG

you'll need a scale that has differential quadrature output A A- B B- Z Z -

from the all in one DC install manual page 13.

fyi.. http://www.zsinstruments.com/ makes a nice scale and they will preconfigure the cable db9 connector to match ajax/centroid.. so its plug and play.
