Over the last few weeks we have set up and determined compatibility along with settings and parameters for using the Oak with the new Automation Direct SureServo2 drives.
They run great in Position mode and also have a excellent auto-tune feature built into the drive.
Attached is the drive configuration file, you can load this on a SureServo2 drive instead of manually inputting drive settings. The file is called "serservo2.par" .
The settings are also attached as a text file for manual setup. Also attached is a drawing of the Oak to SureServo2 Drive Cable. It is available now for sale.
We will have a full Technical Bulletin written up shortly, but for now the attached should be enough to get someone up and running.

Re: New! Automation Direct SureServo2 and Oak Compatibility
I have purchsed Sureservo2 1kW drives and motors to use with my Acorn on a Chevalier 1840 lathe retrofit.
In looking at the servo drive parameters you established for the Oak, it appears it is using pulse and direction commands to the servo drive (P1.000).
If that is correct, I should be able to use the same parameters for the Acorn. Am I on the right track here?

Re: New! Automation Direct SureServo2 and Oak Compatibility
Those parameters will probably work correctly for you with the Acorn.
Unless I am missing something, they will not work correctly with the Oak.
P1.000 = 0x1042 selects pulse and direction control.
The Acorn uses pulse and direction control.
The Oak uses AB phase pulse control (4x).
Therefore it is more likely that a SureServo2 drive used with an Oak control would need P1.000 = 0x1040.
