Manual tool change position on mill

Post by Moose »

Looking for info on changing the Z position for tool change?
Is it always Z home?
Is there a way to change Z tool change position without a custom macro?
Been trying yo find this info in the manual

I'm not a mill or Oak user (Acorn routerhead), but your XYZ tool change position would be stored in Setup/Part/WCS Table/Return as the G28 Return #1. Your M6 tool change macro would then have G28 in it at the proper place. For example X1.0 Y1.0 Z-2.0. G28 is in machine coordinates and you can test the position by issuing a G28 in MDI (after homing the machine of course).

By default, an M6 tool change will always move the Z axis to the G28 position. There is no default XY movement for tool changes on a mill.

Like Sword said, you can change the G28 Z height to whatever you want, in Machine coordinates. It is on the F1/Setup -> F1/Part -> F9/WCS -> F1/Return table.
