Gentlemen:
It seems embarrassing, but I believe I haven't found the correct directions!

I am confused about x and y directions on my Bridgeport series 1 mill.
Starting with the mill X axis and proceeding on to to the other axes:
On my jog panel + x points right.
On the Feed Screen a right arrow points to the X+ direction.
Is this screen referring to the the direction of the table or the tool?
Press + x on the jog panel and the table moves from right to left opposite the direction of the arrow.
If the tool moves, its correct, if it refers to the direction of the table, then the DC servo motor is wired backwards.
If my motor is wired backwards, can I reverse it in software? Where are the instructions?

On to the Y axis:
To be brief, same question as above due to the confusion of refering to tool or table..
Press the +Y button and the table moves from rear to front.
Wired backwards?

Z axis Press +z and the tool goes up
I think this one must be correct... Yes??

A axis: Matches the Feed screen diagram, BUT the table face is on the right end of X.
Facing it Plus is CW, but the up arrow on the Jog panel (+)(moves CW) would seem to be correct for the rotary table to sit on the left end of the x axis.. I could live with this...

Now, assuming an axis is wired backwards, Do I have to repeat tuning?
I ran tuning with bad thrust bearings,(.007" backlash) now new bearings, .0004 backlash. Do I have to repeat tuning due to this?

Please set me off in the right direction(s) and point me to the narrow way instruction book!

For me The +X moves the table to the left +Y moves the table away from the column and +Z move the spindle up. This sounds like what you have - I always have to remember that the spindle "moves" relative to the table, and have to pause before moving when there are things to crash into near the tool. It does get "normal" after a while

Thanks, Figure A8 applies. I used a centroid Rotary and cable. Is A wired backwards? My brain is smoking !!

If the rotary table is on the left side of the table, point your right thumb in the +X direction. Your fingers on the right hand then curl in the direction of A+. So, looking at the face of the rotary table A+ would be counterclockwise. Looking through the rotary table in the X+ direction, A+ would be clockwise.

You do not need to repeat the tuning because of backwards wiring. You do need to repeat the tuning because of mechanical changes.
