I started my Centroid journey a few years ago with a Horror Freight mini mill..... that didn't last long so a Precision Matthews PM940 was ordered and converted. That thing works pretty great but I needed moar powa baby. So then we got a 2008 Toyoda BM1200. Mill operations are covered.
About a week or two ago, a 1987 Mazak QuickTurn 20N followed me home. It has an old Mazatrol T2 control that's having issues. The previous previous owner (no, not a typo as the most recent PO let is sit for a year before giving up), I spoke to and I feel confident about the machine itself mechanically. It just had card failures and then would work then it wouldn't. Long story short, he was in a production environment and his love for the machine wasn't enough to get product out the door. He needed the floor space for a younger version without old controller problems.
So, here we are.
I have a copy of the wiring diagram and I'm going through things as I see fit. I spoke with a nice gentleman here in the Houston area who owns or works for Arrow Controls, a Centroid distributor. He hinted at some things I need to investigate.
This machine comes equipped with 0.8KW HD81-12S 0.8KW 151V 6.3A rated servos. The X axis is rated at 2000rpm while the Z axis is rated at 2400 rpm all things else being the same.
The spindle, as best as I could gather from Arrow, should work with the centroid. Who knows?
Anyway, I've attached some pics of my controls cabinet as well as some of the electrical drawings.

I've ordered my servos today. Now to get the rest of the Centroid equipment necessary to get started.
