X Position error

Post by willpwrd »

I have something odd happening that I can't put my finger on.

The machine has been running fine for years with no issues, then out of the blue I am getting random oscillation and position errors on the X axis. I looked at the encoder and see nothing obviously wrong with it, not sure if a worn belt could cause it.

Nothing has been changed, settings or otherwise. Before I go pulling my hair out trying to figure this out, I thought I would ask here.

Any help on where to look to solve this will be appreciated.

Thanks

Will,

Please post or send a current report.zip to tech@ajaxcnc.com

A worn belt would not cause tuning problems unless the encoder was mounted on the ballscrew instead of the motor.
