encoder differential error

Post by philroy5033 »

Hi, everyone just getting an ALLIN1DC SET UP.
I have run into a problem with encoder differential errors on x y and z axis.
I have double checked my wiring and will be looking with an o'scope tomorrow to check my signals.
I know the encoders are substandard as far as resolution but just need to start my setup before purchasing higher resolution encoders.
I also get a machine set up not complete. thanks

Do those encoders have differential channels?

We could probably tell, if you had a picture that showed the right side of the label with all of the wire color assignments.

Can you describe which wires you connected to which pins of the 9-pin D-sub connector?

yes, it is a quad encoder
a, b and marker
a, b and marker(not)
+5 and ground
I followed diagram for wiring the db9 connector

If it is wired correctly, then the only other possibility is that the high and low logic levels do not meet Centroid's standard of 3.0-5.0V for high and 0.0-0.5V for low. What are your logic levels?

Post a photo of the DE-9 connector wiring.
Cheers,

Tom

I can not find an datasheet but may have figured it out.
They offered an option for open collector output ,which would need a pullup resistor on all the lines.
can anyone find a datasheet for a LBL-041-500.

Sumtak is now part of Heidenhain. You might try contacting their customer service for a datasheet.
