Spindle encoder

Post by Marik »

Hey folks,

I'd like to add to my Matsuura MC500 a rigid tapping and need to install a spindle encoder. Looking at it, there seems to be no place on the spindle I could do it (there is a pushing solenoid on the top of assembly). Is it possible to put it on the main motor and then recalculate it, or are there special encoders for that purpose?

Thanks, M

The 'standard' solution when you can't get to the end of the shaft is to install a timing pulley on the shaft, and belt over to the encoder sideways.
