You provided a picture of the spindle drive label:

As for the drive, good you found a blown fuse. Disconnect the motor wires from the drive.
Disconnect the cabinet feed wires from the drive.
Connect 240VAC to L1 and L3 power up the drive and note what the display says.

The spindle motor label should be on the motor body itself. I though I saw something on the bottom of the motor.

Duh! I forgot about that picture!

That's exactly what I did yesterday and still got the PUF error, leading me to check the fuse. Or do you mean recheck it with a good fuse in place?

YES....
Remove all the LINE (Power in) and LOAD (Power to motor) wires
Replace the fuse with a KNOWN good one
TEST with 240VAC only.

We already knew what the drive said with the bad fuse...replace it and retest and see what the drive says.

Any recommendations on a source for the fuse? Prices are all over the spectrum. Is cheap necessarily good?

A fuse is a fuse. Source it and buy it. I thought you had found one already....
(The picture of the fuse you posted was missing a mounting screw, had you taken one out already?)

Fuses don't blow for no reason. Don't just stick a new one in there and try it. Find the problem. It seems unusual that the motor windings would all be shorted, and I don't think they are. It is not unusual for windings on larger motors to be less than 1 ohm. I assume that you zeroed out the lead resistance?
You may have a shorted IGBT in the VFD that took out the fuse. If you have a service company, just send it to them to have it checked out. When you first got this machine and powered it up you said that it homed but had drive problems. Was there an error on the VFD back then?

I think some of what you are suggesting maybe over his head.
Its why I said to remove the load (motor wires)
I would spend the $60 on a fuse and put 240VAC to the drive to see how it responds.
That is cheap and something he can do. After that, he needs to decide which way he is going to proceed with his build. Decide whether or not he wants to invest in having the VFD repaired or replaced it with a more appropriate VFD.
We have no idea what his electronic skill level is. And we certainly don't want him to be poking around where he is not comfortable.

That is why I recommended sending it out for repair. Mark did mention a company TIE that he implies services these. I would send it off. Something caused that fuse to blow. Funny how the blown fuse error message is PUF...like you let out a puff of the magic smoke from the fuse. :lol:

While it is out being checked, I would trace the motor wires carefully to make sure something is not shorting them. The resistance is a bit low, but maybe not too low for this motor provided he zeroed the test lead resistance when measuring.

EDIT: I just checked out the manual and they do have a section on testing for bad IGBT's. Should be easy enough to do.
