Spindle VFD compatibility

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my spindle motor to an 11kw AC servo. I've attached the controller that comes with the motor. Just wondering if this will be compatible with the Allin1DC and if the encoder can be used for rigid tapping, or do I need to stick with the external one I've fitted. It will be belted 1:1 with a timing belt.

You should be able to make it work.

It appears that it will accept run-forward, run-reverse and reset inputs; accept a 0-10V analog speed command; and provide a contact-closure fault output.

It also appears that its encoder output is a suitable differential signal.

The next question has anybody used this brand of motor and driver.

I would be interested to know how you get on with that motor and drive. Chinese stuff can be a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or something that lasts five minutes. I have learnt from years of importing that often Chinese stuff is rated in "Chilowatts"! They seem to rate things optimistically high. I wonder how a motor that size would go for long durations under load without water cooling?

The rated current seems to be quite low. They say 23.5A at 380V which is 8.9kW input power (roughly). Other than that it does look like pretty good, almost too good to be true for that price.

Also make sure you double check you are getting what you expect. In this post they show a different motor in the photos to what they show in the crate they send! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001 ... 412awlYbOF

Keep me posted, I would really like to know how it works out.

For better or worse it’s on its way. I only have a 7.6kw induction motor at the moment. So I will see how it compares. I would be interested if someone else has used a similar motor.

You might be able to reach out to this fella about the spindle. It looks like he is using the 3.7kw version of that servo. His diy mill seems to be working out well, using eding cnc rather then centroid though. He talks about the spindle around 4:30. Plenty of neat videos on his channel.
