Hardwired MPG Does Not Work as Expected

Post by polaraligned »

I posted about this before, but the video tells the details of how this bizarre issue works. While it does not appear to effect position because the backward servo moves are confined to the backlash compensation region, it is almost certain that this was not intended to happen.

Polaraligned, can you post a fresh report? It might help those in the "know"
I'd be interested to hear what is found.

Marty,

I touched on this problem in my servo oscillation thread where a report was posted. Marc gave me advise to set up the MPG as a manual axis to display it's counting. The MPG appears to be fine. I am attaching the same report here as nothing has changed in regards to settings.

Only relevant parameter that I see is 216 which is set to 0 meaning that the MPU handles backlash.

I am sure that Centroid did not release this control with the motor flopping around when you made MPG moves. It does not do this on programmed moves the best I can tell, but maybe I should do further testing on programmed moves.

I have no idea if this control did this from day one or not. It is not obvious if the belt covers are on. It only became obvious when I put the servo on the knee, and then I checked the other axis and it does this same "dance" on all the others.
