DXF Question

Post by rexcsmith »

I'm trying to use DXF import for the first time and find the CNC 10 manual lacking the necessary detail.
Using the 'contour' function, I'm able to select a contour, but then the screen displays...

End X: -6.3750
Y: 12.0000
Z: .2500
Angle 0.0000
Length 0.0000
Connect Radius 0.0000
Feedrate 0.0000

The contour I selected is a 5/8" circle. What are the x,y,z numbers in reference to?
End of what?
Angle of what?
Length of what?
Connect radius I think I understand
No issue with feedrate.

Is there a more complete description I can access from somewhere?

Thanks much for any help you can give me.

I haven't used DXF import yet myself. I found this:

And this: https://www.centroidcnc.com/downloads/i ... dxf-in.pdf

What operation are you wanting to do to the 5/8" Circle?

I just wanted to contour the circle to see how the operation works. I have figured out the answer to some of what I asked. However, it looks like the contour operation only follows the contour once around; no roughing features. As such it's not going to work in a situation where a lot of material needs to be removed before the contour is cut. Looks like I'm going to have to go back to CAD/CAM to achieve what I want to do.
