Servo Drive Options
Anybody got recommendations for servo drives, excluding DMM? Around 1.5 kW rated. I need drives that can use an incremental encoder (ABZUVW) and don't only support proprietary encoder interface or only work with the drive manufacturers motors.
Initially I was recommended DMM and never really did a lot of research on the options out there. I have seen a few Chinese ones that some guys on youtube are raving about but not sure how good they really are. Lichuan and Leadshine are the names that pop up.

I used Gecko G320s for about 10 years. Their max voltage was 80 VDC so my motors ran a bit slower. The G320X was a problem for me because it didn't like my encoders. I have nothing but positives to say about Gecko their service is outstanding. I fried a couple drives and they replaced them. I just sent my G320X back to make sure they were functioning properly and they tested them and shipped them back for free. I just don't think of them as an industrial level product
I used them to test with my recent Acorn purchase and they worked with my Baldor servo Motors. I decided to go the DMM route so the items not used are available...probably should put them on the for sale forum

I tried through my local ABB guy to get microflex drives and he said it was too hard getting them here! Maybe I should push him a bit harder. When I reviewed the specs a while back they seemed to be perfect for the job. I am not sure of the cost but.

Thanks. These all require you to use their motors. I want to keep my motors. They seem to be an odd size and no new motors seem to fit in the space!

I want to get back to where my machine used to be: 100ms acceleration/deceleration to/from 2400 RPM with quiet and precise control and rigid position holding.
So, it looks like I have two options:
Keep my DYN4s and change to DMM motors. Requires machining motor adapter plates, if I can actually make them fit. It would free up the old motors and cables to still be able to be used with the old controller for another project (if I ever did get round to using it!). And means no control cabinet modifications.
Or, remove the DMM drives and put a set of ABB E190 drives on with my existing motors. I know the motors worked amazingly on the old controller so are all good. Looks like the E190 should be able to run them really well, but wouldn't know for sure until the job was done. At least they are fully configurable and tunable with nice software.
Are DMM drives and motors (750W to 1kW) really up to high speed positioning??? I cant find any videos of high speed CNC machines using them. For some reason I am really struggling with this decision!
