Homing Problems

Post by pwsystems »

Hi everyone
I'm just finishing my bed mill conversion with a Allin1DC
And I am not getting it to home all 3 arises It will only do the first two then errors
On the screen It has the request to do all 3 eg [ M92 Z M26 Z / M92 X M26 X / M92 Y M26 Y ] showing
It will only do the first 2 then says Homing not complete
I have tried changing the order of the list in the cmcn.hom file and it only dose the new first 2
Help
Regards

Generate a report and post it here. You can generate it from the utility menu. (F7)

Maybe there are two axis with problems. Like X and Y, so if you swapped ZXY to ZYX it would still fault?

Did you test your home switches work? Use Alt+I and look at the input states when you work the switches. They need to show as on (green) when not tripped then red when tripped.

Did you set your home switch numbers in the setup screen (Jog setup screen I think).

Remember you need to set M91 or M92 in your cncm.hom file depending on if you want to home in the positive or negative direction.

What happens when you enter M92/X (or M92/Y or M92/Z) into the MDI. You can manually do M92/X, then M26/X to test each axis homing.

You will need the index pulse of your motors to be between 1/8 and 7/8 of a motor revolution away from the home switch. You can check this on the PID screen. Also the automated setup process will run tests on these for you anyway.

HI Ashman
1 Ive checked all switches and there input wiring and assignments
2 Made sure cmcn.hom is configured correctly
3 Set index pulse as far away from home switchs as possible
4 generated a report ( witch I don't understand )

And it still wont complete homing

Did you try the commands for each axis individually in the MDI? That would tell you if each axis on it's own is ok.

One other thing to check is for odd characters in your CNC.hom file. There is a button in notepad++ on the tool bar to show hidden characters. It looks like a music symbol. Check there are nothing but new lines. Things can get messed up if you copy and paste from web browsers and other programs.

I have seen that missing parameter at the end of a file that just had a new line at the end I think.

You can open cmcm.hom as a normal job, turn single step on and then run it line by line to debug.

Remember it looks ahead when running files so can find errors that are past where it is up to running.

Sorry, I see you said the test. The test generates a file with its output so you can see what is going wrong. Called system.out I think.

I am finally back at a PC now. I opened your cncm.hom file and it looks OK to me. I compared it to the one I use and it looks the same as far as format.

Perhaps put up some screenshots of the errors you are seeing and another report folder with the result of the system test in it.
