Hi Ashman
Back in the shop after the weekend
Im not Shure if im happy or worried I tryed to run the homing file as a program and it worked just fine
So reset the homing type and it worked
found the report on the Test it told I hadnt set up software limits
So ill do that and go from their
I have learnt I have replace the crappy limit switches from China with something better
thanks for your help I hope its fixed

Regards

If you find out, let me know too, it annoys me that it goes straight to g code. That is why I put an F8 button on my jog panel so I could switch back and forward.

Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Hi everyone
My Homing problem have not gone away I can run the homing sequence as a program and it works good
because it seems to be intermittent I think it could be my crappy limit switches tripping out side tolerance
so I have ordered some better quality switches
Also I found under the RUN key there is a key called RTG-ON/OFF will turn the run time graphic's off for the day

On a differ note can someone tell me how set the tool change position running the Z axis to home is extreme

Cheers

You may have too much contact bounce on the limit switches. There are denounce time parameters. You can really only see the amount of denounce time needed on an oscilloscope.

Also your switches may not be un tripping in the distance that the control backs up off the switch before finding the motor index pulse.

Not sure how you are doing your tool change but I though the default was to go to the upper z limit for tool check etc. I see that the default z height for ATC is set by a g code, sorry dont have a document here to look it up but it is in the atc technical bulletins.

Please post pictures of your limit switches. Have you replaced them yet?
When you go into the PID screen can you see the asterisk flash (Index pulse) when the axis slowly turns?
What make and model encoders are you using? What is the encoder count, lines per rev?

What is supposed to happen when you home is,
axis moves and hits the limit switch and then backs off to find the index pulse on the encoder and sets home.
You have MULTIPLE trips as shown in your log. F7 Utility, F9 Logs, F1 Errors.

Marty

Those multiple trips on the log are tens of seconds apart. Suggesting it was just repeated attempts at testing the homing on the same axis rather than rapid repeated tripping of the switch.

Does reducing or increasing the feed rate for homing make it better or worse?

The other questions Marty asked are all important though.
