wired mpg
Can I install a new wired MPG to an old cnc 10 system?
Re: wired mpg
Yes.
When you order the wired MPG, you need to specify part number 10808, which is the model for CPU10 systems.
(MPG part number 11069 is the model for MPU11-family systems.)

Re: wired mpg
I have the correct MPG just no place to plug it in on the old board. CPU10 and DC3IO
Re: wired mpg
It would plug into the jog panel pendant.
If you have an M400S console, the 28-pin receptacle is on the side of the console, with a short pigtail inside leading to the jog panel circuit board.
If you have an M39S hand pendant, then you would need to install said pigtail inside your hand pendant and make a knockout for the 28-pin receptacle. This is a somewhat awkward configuration, as you end up with one handheld pendant (the MPG) tethered to another (the M39S jog pendant). Centroid used to make a sheet metal cradle that would mount on the right side of the M39S pendant in place of the right-side handle, so the MPG could sit there.

Re: wired mpg
I have an old wired pendant off of a previous mill.
It has buttons for Axis select, a momentary contact that was for saving current point, and an encoder wheel.
The encoder wheel is a SUMTAK LGF-027-100 9402-0727 100P/R .
It is 5V 160mA.
Can this be used on an older Acorn?
I believe tne board is rev 2

Re: wired mpg
If you aren't using a spindle encoder, it could probably be adapted to an Acorn. You'd need four unused inputs for the buttons, and the encoder port for the MPG along with some custom PLC code. It would probably be cheaper to purchase the wireless MPG made for the Acorn.
Cheers,
Tom

Re: wired mpg
I think the $300 price tag is to steep.
I see pendants for other systems selling for less than half the price.
I just hooked up an Xbox controller and it may not be as pretty but seems to do the basics of what I need for less than $30.
