Non Centroid 4th axis setup/calibration

Post by Eric S »

Hello All,

I'm trying to get my 4th axis calibrated correctly. This is a horizontal machining center so the 4th axis is actually a pallet. I've removed the
original Mazak motor and replaced with DMM motor and Drive. I've got it set up as a B axis in CNC 12 and I have parameter 94 set to 1 and
I've got nice smooth motion on my 4th axis with good encoder feedback etc..

My Question: How to calibrate the correct degrees of rotation given I don't know the gear ratio for this rotary table.
Is there a way I can tram the front of the pallet to exactly flat with respect to the spindle, make that my zero point and then rotate the table
360 degrees, and then take the number of pulses and divide that number by 360? “Not sure exactly how just some ideas In my head. How do I set the axis up in CNC12 so I can accurately calibrate a 360 degree rotation of the 4th axis. I've looked through the Tech Bulletins and the Forums. Haven't had much luck finding anything

Thanks as always.
