Bridgeport series I Allin1DC retrofit

Post by Fontana »

New to Centroid community and looking to share some of my project cus for sure I will need from experienced people. Got a chance to buy this mill at the price of the Allin1DC board, was told that mill ran b/4 previous owner I bought from, the guy I got this had it with the idea of learning but never got into, so I jumped for and will see if it was a good decisition. Mill came with few kwik 200 holders, Centroid pendant, 24" touch screen. I separated the mill head from the it base to put it inside my garage cus is around 88" will do a full clean and paint job on it. So for sure I will need you guys help cus I know mazak or fanuc but new to Centroid. Encoders on motors BEI Electronics PN 924-01029-092A(not sure lines per revolution) Servos: 6K rpm 145V all has been previous connected as it ran b/4 and machine run all on 220V 1ph. Will post pics as I go on.

If it were mine, I would carefully rewire and pretty much start from the beginning as the wiring is very sloppy. Look how terrible those connections are going into the VFD  What dripped all over the top of the All-in-one? It looks like a good machine to start from, you just need to straighten it out. The rigid ram machines (like yours) are much better than the V-ram mills.

I was thinking on doing that and like you said "start from scratch" I was a little afraid of getting this type of bridgeport mill cus are not then much common to see around, it was used 90% of the time to machine aluminium.

I would clean up all of the wiring and get that all sorted out prior to anything else so you can evaluate what you have. Starting from zero with the wiring is a good idea.
