Centroid sells encoder cable by the foot. My personal preference is PUR insulated industrial continuous twist/flex rated CAT5/6 Ethernet cable. Usually 24 or 26 gauge, it's twisted pair and the better cables have each pair individually shielded.

Yes Centroid sells it. It is West Penn 3653 cable. There are a couple of sellers on ebay with it now.

Re: About to embark on an Allin1DC retrofit on Wells Index 847
Thanks Marty!
That's exactly what I was looking for but for the life of me, couldn't find it again. Excellent price. I'll be ordering some shortly.
Speaking of things I saw once and can't find again, there was a video discussing incoming 220 power. Can not find it again.
Am I correct in understanding that I will be reusing most (if not all) of the 240 three phase power (and 120 single phase) and connectors, relays, magentics, etc., from the original machine?

Follow the Centroid Schematic.....likely little you can reuse. You may need to use the transformer for DC Buss power.
DO follow the TB-1 terminal block. Buy that number of position terminal block.

You never posted a picture of the inside of the original cabinet that I could see....

Thanks Marty!
Cable has been ordered.
I didn't want to muddy the waters too soon with too many pictures. I do have pics of the electrics but not on me. I will get them uploaded tonight.

Re: About to embark on an Allin1DC retrofit on Wells Index 847
Remember, we can't "SEE" what you "SEE" so your asking questions on what to keep won't get good information.
My suggestion is keep the transformer, you need it for the proper DC buss voltage. I would buy Centroid's Cap and Bridge Comb: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... nents.html
Likely buy a new Estop contactor, TB1 terminal block etc. Follow the schematics. I even try very hard to use the size/color wiring recommended on the schematics. Remington has a nice assortment box: https://www.remingtonindustries.com/hoo ... -300-volt/
Make sure you use snubbers/quencharcs on all contactor coils etc.
Go cheap and you will pull your hair out....

Re: About to embark on an Allin1DC retrofit on Wells Index 847
I have done several Bridgeport BOSS CNC conversions (early ones being Mach 3 - glad to be done with that), and I trashed all the original parts. You might be able to use the original step down transformer for the servo power, but you need to make sure it is not a 3 phase to single phase step down transformer. The Bridgeport stepper supply transformers were single phase with a huge amount of options for taps, but in the end I used AnTek toroidal transformers for my supplies. If your motors are rated for at least 180v (doubt they are), then you can rectify the line directly. AnTek also sells a nice rectifier/filter assembly that is easy to modify to add additional capacitance. I used one on my current machine for the last 8 years with no issue, and now on my current "rebuild" I have upped the capacitance with an outboard capacitor. So if you are using a VFD for the spindle, there is no need for any 3 phase parts.
That brake has no provision to be manually operated? The lever on the left side of the head looks a lot like the brake lever on Bridgeport heads.

Flash glare on the transformer label. Can't read it.
I assume your servo motor cables and encoder go to the Console cabinet. Have you opened that up yet?
