Scales with Clearpath Servos

I'm looking to upgrade a machine that needs very high precision drilling holes using a .1mm drill bit within a +/- .005mm tolerance. I wanted to confirm I could use a set of scales in combination with the step/dir drivers on the Oak to obtain a high level of precision using PID or dumping the offset in the comp table on the fly.

The current control uses an ISA card and they are trying to ditch that.

My current plan is to go with the Clearpaths and then comp each axis with my ML10 or get continuous feedback with glass scales if the Oak can do more than just DRO with the encoder feedback. I have never used Acorn/Centroid products but have used Mach 3/4, Masso, UCCNC and can program most brands of PLC. This is my first customer that is requiring the axis to have some type of compensation from a replacement controller.

i know if you buy the oak you will need the ultimate license to use scales for feedback vs the encoder on the motors. But yes if you have scales and get the ultimate software unlock you can use scales as your feedback for oak control.

but i believe oak does precision mode or velocity mode, not step and direction. (but i believe you can change the clear path to use position or velocity mode, i use velocity mode personally

only one that does step and direction is acorn.

I would call Centroid directly. They are very responsive.

Clearpath motors/drives will not work with Oak that I know of.
