F3 MDI block code when entered does not change spindle speed

Post by Bill R »

Hi all. first time post. Have been using our M400 controlled Centroid all in one, to run 4 stored programs for several years. Now, we have need of being able to use run a single block code that allows linear - Y axis movement of about 1" in length, rarely, and only when needed. After selecting F3 MDI, inputting: S143 M03, and pressing cycle start, the MDI command appears as written in top right hand box, but actual spindle speed remains at 2679 rpm which is what the speed of the last program run was.
Our desired outcome is a spindle speed of 143rpm and a feed rate of 18"/Min.

Our M400 says we are running CNC11 software. A report and equipment being run is available if needed.

Thank you for your help

Yes, please post further information about your machine and your control, and post a report.

For all we know right now, your control does not have a VFD, and the only way to change the spindle RPM is to turn the vari-speed crank on the head.

Or perhaps your machine has a two-speed head (back gear) with a particularly large ratio, and your low-range detect switch is tripped, so the control thinks that it needs to run the motor up to 2679 RPM in order to get the spindle to turn 143.

There are countless possibilities, in the absence of any real information.
