Haas VF-1 1994 Retrofit Allin1DC - Gearbox Solenoids

Post by manni »

HI,

I have been stuck on this last few days gearbox solenoids for high gear and low gear.

I have the wires but in my Schematic S14817 output for the spindle gearbox is missing?

I have 2 inputs that I have figured out, to go into input 13 & 15.

But I can't see any outputs to control the solenoids?

Any guide on this will help as I am so close to the finishing line.

Thank you in advance.

S14817 is a generic schematic, evidently for a machine without an automated gear changer.

Figure out what the operating voltage is for your solenoids. Pick any unused PLC outputs. Wire the solenoids there.

You will, of course, need to add gear-shift logic to the PLC program, or hire someone to help you add it, or hire someone to add it for you, or scour all the "standard" PLC programs for one that happens to support a gear changer like yours, then combine that logic into your PLC program.

It is not terribly complicated, but to approach it efficiently, it would help if you know:
- Is it a gear shifter (that probably stays where where you put it, indefinitely)?
- Or is it a clutch (that is only engaged when it is powered)?
- If it is a clutch, does the solenoid valve have detents so it maintains its last position? Or does it require continuous power?

I have the VFD connected and its in low gear. cant remember if it was in low gear when the controls died.
Solenoids are 115v, I have the tool unclamp solenoid working.
I will power the high side gear tomorrow and then will turn machine off then on again to see if the gear hold its position.
plc programming will look into it, if its a struggle then will look for someone. will you be up for it?

Thanks for the information I will update soon on my progress.

Thanks

Yes, I can do the CNC and macro programming for it.
