Haas VF-1 1994 Retrofit Allin1DC - encoder quadrature error

HI,
I hope someone can shed some light.

last few days been figuring this issue out but unable to do so.

I can jog X axis back and forward no issues but soon as I try to move Y & Z axis it throws a error, encoder quadrature error.

I double checked the wiring and read the manual few times, also made sure that the encoders by turning the motor counter clockwise and the encoder counts up.

I setup PID same values as X axis. x jogs fine just the other two having issue with.

Then when I swapped the cables from the rear cabinet x axis wire to y axis and Y axis to x axis , and the error has changed from y axis to x axis.

This has made it more confusing, am I missing something?

Look forward to any solutions

Thanks
Manni

quick note to add,
When the Original HAAS controls where working I never had any issue with Y or Z axis, odd occasionally the X axis had issue and the drive failed.
hence the upgrade to Centroid.

I test all motors according to manual.

This is the right test to perform.

Unfortunately, when reporting the results of a swapped-connections test, you need to try hard to avoid ambiguity.

With the cable connections swapped, do you mean that:
1) The error condition has moved from the Y axis motor to the X axis motor (which is now being controlled as Y)?
or
2) The error condition has moved from the Y axis controls (jog keys, axis drive) to the X axis controls, while still affecting the same motor (Y motor)?

I am guessing you mean (2): that, before switching cables, when you pressed a Y jog key to move the Y motor, you got a "455 Y axis(2) encoder quadrature error"; and that after switching cables, when you pressed an X jog key to move the Y motor, you got a "455 X axis(1) encoder quadrature error".

That would mean that the problem is with the Y axis encoder, or with the Y axis encoder cable.

The old Haas control probably did not check for quadrature errors, and so would not have reported them. It might have gradually lost position on that axis, but it might have taken a long time to lose enough position for you to notice.

Thank you for your reply,

Sorry should have been more open,

yes you assumed perfect the error(2).

I connected Y axis to x axis motor and Y axis works fine (using X axis motor).

then i connected y axis motor to x axis and it gave out error. so there is something wrong with Y and Z axis encoders.
I did disable the parameter 324 and 325, encoder quadrature error and error message.

in MDI mode the motor keeps on spinning, so re unable the parameter. and it moves just a little and the error shows.

I didn't had the Haas for long after restoring the mechanically side and only made few test parts then the drive failed.

I will investigate the wiring tomorrow and update.

do you think if the wiring is ok then the encoder will need replacing?

After testing the encoder wiring and encoders all worked fine.

found Marty's video.

Swapping the motor leads. did the trick.

Thanks
