Bug/Format problem with MDI screen in v4.18 lathe

Post by RTech »

I just installed v4.18 on my three OAK controlled machines (Knee mill and 2 lathes). Updating from v4.16 was easy without any issues, but it appears there is a bug or format issue on the MDI page for the lathes.

On the MDI page of lathe v4.18, the MDI line is "shifted" to the left and is obscured by the active G codes. I've attached a marked-up photo of what I am seeing on both lathes.

The MDI screen on the mill looks the same in v4.18 as it did in v4.16 and works fine.

Is your screen 1024x768?

If you turn off the active G code display, is the MDI prompt then displayed normally?

Are you sure this issue was not present before?

I ask, because I observed an issue like this in CNC12 Lathe v4.14, on a 15" 1024x768 screen. I am pretty sure I reported it.

I'm using the same 1920x1080 monitor on all three machines. If I go back to v4.16 on both lathes without changing anything else, it displays / works fine.

Setting parameter P408 to 2 on the lathes gets rid of the G code conflict, but the MDI line is offset to the left.

It's odd, but on the mill, changing P408 to any value (0, 1, or 2) doesn't seem to change anything. It is also missing the lower caption on the parameter screen stating what changing the values for P408 does. It only displays: Not Used.

The caption is there on the lathe version and reads:

Active G-Code Display
0: Always
1: MDI Only
2: Never

On Mill controls, it appears that Parameter 46 controls display of active G codes.

On closed-loop lathe controls, it is Parameter 404.

Open-loop (Acorn) lathe controls use Parameter 408.

The MDI screen on the mill looks the same in v4.18 as it did in v4.16 and works fine.

Attached is a current report.

The problem is very repeatable...if P408 is set to 0 or 1, the MDI command line runs into the active G codes...if P408 is set to 2, the MDI command line is offset to the left. It doesn't do this on the knee mill...only the lathes.

It appears the Active G Code Display parameter was changed from P404 to P408 in v4.16 lathe?

Got it we'll fix it in 4.20

Here is a workaround

set parameter 143 to 11 (assuming you want meters with bars)

That was fast...P143 set to 11 works.

Thanks!
