Can I reuse my MPG?

Post by repauli1 »

I am retrofitting a industrial router and would like to reuse their hand held pendant, besides having 10 pushbutton switches, it has a MPG by Tosoku mounted on it, it is a 5vdc 422 line driver, is it possible to reuse, if not they have other MPGs to choose from, does anyone have the spec requirements for the MPG port on the OAK controller?

Port info is in the Oak install manual.

Line driver differential encoder. 5VDC 100ppr
You don't post the specs or pictures of your MPG encoder so we can't answer your question properly.
You need A, /A, B, /B, +5VDC and COM

My MPG is the wiring diagram on far right side. I can buy identical ones with these three options in 5VDC.

5V RS422 should be compatible.

In the wiring diagram above referring to the "driver type" on right side, what does the dash line above the A/B represent. I am trying to determine which wires go where because it does not say A+/A- etc, etc. Does the dash represent A-/B-? Thanks your your help and responses everyone!

The dash is as you think it is.

In electronics a dash over a signal name means "not". So, a line over A would be read as "not A" and therefore equivalent to A-.
