Program Names

Post by Eric S »

Hi All, is there a workaround or a way to save file names as a name not a number. It’s not a dealbreaker but it’s annoying to me. I use names for my other mills and hate having to call my programs a number on my Centroid. Thanks.

Centroid does not require numeric file names. You can name your programs with any valid Windows filename.

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

ALWAYS post a report when asking for help.
Is it a newer control?

Age and version do not matter. Centroid has always used filenames appropriate to the operating system (Windows, Linux, DOS).

If the O.P. has experienced some restriction about using numbers only, that is in his CAM software, not in Centroid software.

Hey guys, Sorry for the slow response. I'm getting the error message in Fusion when I have Centroid selected as the Post type. I don't get this issue with my Tormach or Mach 3 posts. Not sure if anyone knows what I have to do so Fusion will allow a name other than a number. Thanks.

The regular Centroid Post Processor provided by Autodesk only allows program number file names.

Look at my modified Post Processor which includes a lot of features specifically for CNC12. You can download it from this post.

Swissi, thanks for the help super appreciated as well as your work on this post processor. Is there a trick to getting it to show up in Fusion 360? Ive got the CPS file in the fusion 360 post folder locally inside my app-data folder. Cant see it in the dropdown list as its CPS name. Let me know! Almost there.

I found it under the "setup" TAB inside the post process window. There is a place to select and use local posts and It needs to be selected. This forum can be closed. Thanks all for the solution. About to run it now.
