Tach replace with encoder issue

Post by Jones Outdoors »

Machine: Alliant Knee Mill
Servo: Anilam / Baldor
Control: Soon to be All in 1 --- I Hope

Just go my my AllIn1 kit with everything except new servos. Trying to use existing servos since they are in good shape. I am trying to change out the tachometers with the encoders to start the bench test and have hit a wall immediately. I need advice how to proceed forward. How do I completely remove the tachometer so I can add the encoder? See pictures to see what I'm looking at. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can you leave the old tach commutator in place, and build a bridge/platform/support that will allow you to secure the encoder flex mount up there on the end of the shaft?

It's definitely worth a try. I may can make some spacers or something. Not sure if I have enough room to put the cover back on. Have you ever heard of anyone having this issue? I don't want to but new servos if I don't have to. Thanks for your reply.
