DC Servo ?

Post by klrskies »

Greetings,

I have a small bed mill that uses A.O. Smith varible speed DC servo motors controlled with some electronics that prototrak installs. I'd like to determine if the dc servo motors are useable with the ajax system. Looking on AO Smiths web site, I can't find the part number or catalog number. How can I determine if the dc servomotors are compatible?

thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,

Unfortunately, without any details and specs on the motors, I'm not sure how much help I can be. I've searched a bit and although I see frequent references to Prototrak and A.O. Smith motors, no specific information is available.

Is there a nameplate on the motor?
Does it list any torque specs?
Stall current?
Inductance?
Max motor voltage or Terminal voltage?

It may be best to post a picture of the nameplate here and I'll see what I can do with whatever info is available.
