What is Clearance Angle in Thread Milling

Post by BodeRacing »

About to try thread milling. When doing external threads, what is clearance angle? That confuses me.

Write a program with two external thread milling cycles.

Make them identical, except put one at X0 with a clearance angle of 0 degrees; and put the other at X2 with a clearance angle of 120 degrees.

For clarity, make the "Depth: Total" a whole multiple of the thread lead.

F8/Graph the program to see what the difference is between the two cycles.

For a twist, make "Depth: Total" something other than a whole multiple of thread lead.

If you are actually using the Clearance Angle value to avoid obstacles, it is important to know that the lead-out could happen somewhere else.

I see exactly what you are talking about!
